A friend of mine pointed out an interesting comment by Dr. Michael Heiser in his podcast numbered 380 at about the 45-minute mark in answer to a question regarding Orthodox and Roman Catholic church traditions. The question ends with the following”…how can I have a stable and balanced approach to my relationship with God?”
This was part of his reply…
“….I would say the only way to really do this is to divorce your relationship with God from those traditions. What I mean by that is, don’t define your relationship with God as requiring endorsement of any one tradition. Or don’t let it be dictated
by anyone tradition. There’s no reason to do that. These are all post-biblical traditions. Why should they set the rules for you on your relationship with God as opposed to letting Scripture set the rules for you on your relationship with God?
Scripture preceded all of these traditions. It’s also inspired, where these traditions are not…..”
It took me 25 years in a cult and then leaving to discover the above incredible point.
I hope that any young or old Christians will thoughtfully consider Dr. Heiser’s comments and if you don’t agree with then consider this question, “Why don’t you agree with them, are you really interested in truth as outlined by Yeshua ( Jesus) in John 14:6? And ask a further question why Yeshua ( Jesus) did not mention any church in the quoted bible verse,
e.g “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
